I would just like to add a little to the history you have addressed!

Years ago I would interview a tech and ask him to show me his last check and then ask how much he had spent on tools. Combined with his ASE, that gave good meaure of a techs commitment to the craft. That is because I personally knew the commitment it took.

Today, it is not the check or tools but how well you measure on training stats, CSI stats, and bullshit stats. Of course the bullshit stats are needed to document accurately the prescibed wording to allow a payment under warranty.

We used to have Service Managers. They are now called Department heads. To be a good department head you do not need to know the work or the techniques involved in real service. As a department head, you must be able to follow directions (enter Service Director) from the dealer to achieve numbers designated as “standards” (or some undefined greatness) and that requires the department head to be good at, well, giving numbers to the Director.

Ultimately, you have the department head of the back end (Service)and
if the deartment head becomes a manager as he becomes aware of the position of the backend, it becomes apparent to the Dealer that a backbone has sprung up and it is necessary to replace the head so that the structure is not varied as prescribed by statistics.

Damn! now I am getting pissed….

Quite refreshing. I’ve always wondered why those douchey “shants” cost more than pants. Less fabric and less labor. And to be fair, I think Hepburn would look gorgeous in a potato sack!

So begins October.

As for the “Trick Dipstick Specials”, remember that they are “Special Contrivancies for Additional Money” (SCAM) and as the result of “Interesting Uninformed Decisions” (IUD).
Oddly enough IUD’s and SCAMS lead to “Demonstrated Intelligence Problems Stressing the Technically Informed Carguy with Knowledge” (Dipstick).

This condition is further exacerbated by the DPSM (Dealer Primary Source of Mismanagement) who is trained in the use of NAW (Nods and Winks) that SCAMS cannot happen.

Finally, there is the Freejasons who visits each of the fifedoms and is charged with uncovering these IUD and SCAMS and turning it to the DPSM.
Freejasons are powerless, therefore they are subjected to DPSM and the Dipstick when they say “NAH thats not a SCAM”
Hopefully you have a more informed perspective leading to restored mental health.

PS the Tourette’s is caused by IUD’s.
