“Don’t take your car to The Dealer!!

I am sick to death of reading about all the “Professionals” who advise people to not take their car to the dealer for repairs.

At least I have NEVER seen a dealership do this:

Man uses shotgun to loosen lug nut, hospitalized with wounds to legs

Associated Press

Nov. 12, 2007 12:31 PM

SOUTHWORTH, Wash. – A man trying to loosen a stubborn lug nut blasted the wheel with a 12-gauge shotgun, injuring himself badly in both legs, sheriff’s deputies said.

The 66-year-old man had been repairing a Lincoln Continental for two weeks at his home northwest of Southworth, about 10 miles southwest of Seattle, and had gotten all but one of the lug nuts off the right rear wheel by Saturday afternoon, Kitsap County Deputy Scott Wilson said.

“He’s bound and determined to get that lug nut off,” Wilson said.

From about arm’s length, the man fired the shotgun at the wheel and was “peppered” in both legs with buckshot and debris, with some injuries as high as his chin, according to a sheriff’s office report.

“Nobody else was there and he wasn’t intoxicated,” Wilson said.

The man was taken to Tacoma General Hospital with injuries Wilson described as severe but not life-threatening

Gives new meaning to the phrase “That guy is just shotgunning parts at that car…”

I smell popcorn…

On My Coming Death and Dying in General

So as I approach the time where my maker has to figure out what to do with me, I have no fear of the actual “dying” thing but the way I get there is really troubling to me…I really do not want to die in a hospital of a burst hernia, die from complications because of my arthritis medication, die of electrocution (I absolutely HATE being shocked, unless I am standing in puddle of water using an extremely powerfull electrical tool) or any of those other rather bland and lingering death scenarios.

Ok, maybe I am not making any sense at all here, (and YES I realize that not making any sense here is pretty much a rather normal course of events) but I am 48 years old, married to a really wonderful woman, have seven kids, well past what ever “prime” I, at some point, may have had, and I really do have to figure out what I want as “Check-out” time approaches…

I was reading an article in the LA TIMES about remodeling, and an 80 year old lady is doing a COMPLETE remodel of her condo with a true “devil may care” attitude. Her philosophy is the same one I have decided to adopt for what ever days, months or years I may have left:

Life’s journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting “Holy Cow . . . What a ride!”

So, God, if You are listening, I would like about 25 more years and then, drooling, dottering and giggling insanely, I would like to have a last daring escape from the Home for the Mechanically Insane. Then running into the street without looking (just like my son, Michael, probably still does after God knows how many times I screamed at him not to), my “tied in the back” examination gown fluttering in the breeze showing off my boney but still highly erotic butt, I am barely missed by a Surprise!! Rapid Transit Bus, only to be ground under the wheels of a Omaha Steaks Delivery truck. As my last thoughts trail off I want to have a nice animation, ala CSI, of the fatal carnage running through my brain before the back wheels pinch my head like a zit, spewing my gray matter across three lanes of traffic…

Now if that is not skidding sideways into the grave, then DAMNIT I have no idea what is…

As for a grave stone, I truly do want something along the following:

Here lies that
Dumb Drunk Bastard
Troy Donson
He was so dumb,
he could not find his
ass with both hands

And then have a button that when pushed plays a bunch of Three Stooges sound effects…

Hell, I’m kinda sorry I won’t be around to see this…

“It’s not my fault!!!” revisited

Not too long ago I went nuts going off about how everyone seems to want to shirk responsibility. I was pretty pissed off about how some moron had the balls to try and ruin MY life to make HIS life better and then claim it was not his fault.

You can read about it here:

When done come back and read THIS story about how the gene pool has a bunch of people getting away with peeing in it…

Mesa woman sues Tempe police after crashing car

Associated Press
Nov. 5, 2007 10:46 AM
The city of Tempe is fighting a lawsuit by a woman who acknowledges she was intoxicated and lied to a police officer before retrieving a hidden key and crashing her car.

The lawsuit filed on behalf of 21-year-old Korie Hoke of Mesa contends her drunken-driving accident and resulting injuries, said to include brain trauma, could have been prevented if not for police negligence for leaving her unattended.

According to the suit filed in Maricopa County Superior Court in late October, Hoke left a New Year’s Eve party on Dec. 31 and called police after an argument with her boyfriend left her fearing for her safety.

Officer Lateef Hampton found Hoke hysterical and sitting in her car, according to a taped March interview that Hampton gave to an attorney for Hoke.

Hampton said he eventually persuaded Hoke to open the car door after she initially refused to do so for him and people whom he found surrounding the car.

Hampton said Hoke acknowledged drinking and that he cited her for underage drinking because she was 20 at the time. He said he did not conduct field sobriety tests because both Hoke and her boyfriend told him that the boyfriend had taken her keys.

Hampton to tried to make sure Hoke didn’t have any keys, having her empty her purse and searching parts of the car.

She called her parents to pick her up, and Hampton said he spoke to her parents, who assured him they would be right there.

Hampton said he decided to leave her to wait for her parents because she was an adult.

Hoke’s parents arrived minutes later, but she was already gone, having used keys she hid from Hampton.

Hoke’s car struck a cinderblock wall and rolled. Hampton said he heard the accident call on the radio and drove to the scene.

Hoke was taken to a hospital where her blood-alcohol content was found to be above the legal limit, according to Jeffrey Gill, one of her attorneys. He wouldn’t specify the amount.

Andrew Davidson, an attorney for Tempe, said the city previously denied a pre-lawsuit claim that Gill said sought $1.8 million.

Gill said police should have taken more precautions to keep Hoke safe.

“There are other options to have taken,” he said. “Wait for the parents, have her vehicle towed or take her into custody.”

So here once again absolutely no one is responsible for their actions what ever the circumstances are….
